Key achievements from my career outside and inside OestData
- As a Business Intelligence Consultant at Spry, implemented a variance analysis system for the public works company LPE by creating a data warehouse in SQL Server (and available with Azure DevOps) and reports in Power BI that compare budgeted costs and actual revenues over time and giving deeper insights in project costs and incomes and led to the customer finding great potential for improvements in many of their customer projects.
- Implemented for the multinational Geodis several data warehouses and reports using SQL Server’s SSMS, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Qlikview, Excel, VBA, .NET,C# and APIs to extract supply chain/financial data from the different worldwide departments’ data sources Dynamics (SQL Server, DB2), Sharepoint, XML/CSV/TXT files, Excel, Access, Oracle E-Business Suite (Oracle, DB2) SAP ERP Business Suite (DB2, Excel) and tailor-made sources, create data models and present reports for deeper insights about freights, CO/2 emissions, and various financial aspects.
- As a BI mentor at OestData I gave mentoring towards Jumanji in calculating and comparing CO/2 emissions in freights in MySQL for e-commerce companies that are using the Shopify system.
- On a BI architect mission for Västra Götalandsregionen I created a working prototype for a near real-time Business Activity System (BAM) to use for a Hospital Capacity Management System (HCMS) in Sweden’s third largest hospital Sahlgrenska University Hospital. By using SQL Server and SSIS for Change Data Capturing (CDC) and IBM Cognos tools for reporting the hospital got valuable insights regarding planning available beds for patients.
- Created SQL procedures for ETL jobs that transforms daily customer behavior data from the e-commerce company Nordic Nest’s Dynamics 365 Business Central and Google Analytics into tables in a data warehouse and in data marts for a customer behavior analytics (CBA) system. A much better understanding of customers now according to the Nordic Nest.
- Built PowerShell scripts that migrated accounting and general ledger data from the logistics company GP Last’s ERP system to SQL Server. The data was used for a budgeting and forecasting system.
- Created the main parts for the course Supply Chain Analytics in Power BI for Datacamp. The course let students improve their skills in data modeling and DAX functions in Power BI four supply chain analytics.
Skills Overview
Analysis and reporting
- As own consultant I have done ETL jobs and credit risk reports in SAS softwares for Volvofinans Bank (now Ziklo Bank), this work contributed that they became fully compliant with the EU standard Basel III.
- As a hired Study Programmer consultant for staff augmentation in AstraZeneca I developed clinical trial databases (CTDs) with SAS software and using data from EDC systems such as Rave for collecting data from EHRs and CTMS. By following the CFR and GCP regulations I have contributed to many studies reaching the next phases in drug development.
- Implemented several SSRS reports in a cash flow management system for Geodis that was vital for the operations and finance departments to see payment patterns of invoices, effeciently calculate accruals, account receivables (AR) and account payables (AP), and led to a shortening of two months of Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) which significally improved cash flow and enhanced financial performance.
ETL, data ingestion, data architecture and data optimization
- Whilst a BI Architect at Geodis, by using APIs, .NET, C# and SSIS for gathering and recognizing UN/LOCODEs and IATA codes, coordinates and different spellings of country and city names it led to a big increase in accuracy of hub and port data which was very important for the quality of shipping lane statistics.
- At Geodis I performed a major overhaul of the database performance by using the SQL Server tools DMVs, Performance Monitor and Profiler and by optimizing indexes, resolve blocking and deadlocks, assign optimal data types, scaling up hardware resources, switch from cursor loops to set-based operations in SQL code the performances of the databases were heavily improved.
Project management and stakeholder communication
- During the consolidation of BI systems towards one Nordic BI system at Geodis I led a team of three developers and was lead architect and developer, and created milestones, budget and spoke to stakeholders for the project such as the managers for sales, operations and finance and it lead to a successful implementation.
